Our Story

David Anstis began building homes in the late 1980s on an island near Seattle, Washington. In 1994 he came home to New Zealand and settled in Titirangi. Since then he has built dozens of homes in the Waitakere Ranges and surrounding areas.

He set up Ecoconstruct in 2008 to bring his own building philosophy in line with what the market was asking for. In 2009 the business moved out of the bush to Mt Albert, where it is based today.

David builds architecturally designed homes. He also has his own contemporary Ecohome designs for clients on a restricted budget.

Meet David Anstis

“I have been building and renovating quality homes since 1988, always making sure that I work the right way as opposed to the easy way. I place the same high demands on all those who work for me.”

David works on all jobs himself, so when you hire Ecoconstruct you get his personal attention. He is a Licensed Building Practitioner (Carpentry and Site 2, licence number 100307) and a member of The Building Hub. He has been a Registered Master Builder and holds a Bachelors Degree in Horticultural Science.

“We were considered ‘tree hugging hippies’ back in the 80s, but now we are at the forefront of a world wide movement toward sustainable living.”
